Hello @Witchywoo welcome to the online community

Your ability to walk long distances has been reduced to managing to walk hardly at all due to knee pain. You ask if any of our members can offer any advice, well you have come to the right place for support. We are a friendly group who offer a safe forum to share our experiences of living with arthritis and I am sure you will also find plenty of information to help you.

You have not mentioned if you have seen your GP or a consultant and been diagnosed with a form of arthritis but maybe since you describe the pain as less than it was, you have been prescribed or are taking pain relief. If you are walking with a limp is this to compensate for the pain in your knee? Sometimes when one has a hip or knee problem one tries to relieve the acuteness of the pain by walking unevenly.

With this concern in mind I attach some links which I hope you will find useful

Do you have a local physiotherapist that might be able to advise you? We are all being encouraged to exercise our joints and muscles to maintain our mobility and I hope you will join in with some of the Lets Move videos, they are really helpful.

Do look through the community discussions especially the "Living with Arthritis" section where members have shared their experiences. We look forward to hearing from you again soon

    Take care

    Hi.

I also used to love walking but found that having arthritis in my right knee has slowed me down somewhat. I take Naproxen for when I know that I will be doing more walking or gardening. Also, I have been given specific exercises to do for my knee which should ideally be done each day. These exercises have helped but I have had to accept the fact that I walk slower now and also with a slight limp. My advice is to be kind to yourself, hope this helps.🙂
