Arthritis in my wrist

What little information I have been given has been vague and incoherent, but I believe I have osteoarthritis in my right wrist.

After some frustrating appointmets with different Doctors at my local Surgery/Practice, I had an x-ray at the hospital, followed up by an appointment to get my results, where a Doctor mumbled behind a mask and didn't really make anything clear. Last week I had a physio appointment, which wasn't really much help. I even had to point out that the splint this person was attempting to put on my right wrist was actually for a left wrist. Need I say more?

So I don't feel like I've received any worthwhile support so far and I don't see how that will change. I doubt that complaining will make any difference, when I'm using the only services I believe are available to me, as I don't have the money to go to any private or specialist organisations.

I suppose I am posting this to vent my frustration more than anything.

Hello @mjf_uk and welcome to the community. We are a friendly and supportive group and I hope that you will find that as well.

I understand that you might have osteoarthritis in your right wrist but still waiting for confirmation. It sounds like you have not had a great experience with the medical profession and so still do not know the answer. I can only suggest going back to your GP (and possibly see a different one if possible) and ask the question again. In the meantime I have put a link in below from of our website which might contain useful information

Please do keep posting and let us know how you are progressing, and I hope that others will connect with you to share their thoughts and experiences as well.

    With very best wishes

I'm sorry things haven't gone too well dor you but, yes, welcome to the wonderful world of arthritis. To be honest, we're mostly on our own with OA. Physio is our friend. Splints are good for short periods but we do need to exercise the muscles that hold our joints in position. Otherwise things get worse quickly. Mine have fused themselves now and are much better for it.

If you're unhappy with your GP surgery it's very easy to change. Just rock up at the new one of tour choice and they do all the paperwork. But masks are compulsory in medical settings. I, for one, am grateful as, having RA as well as OA, I'm immunosuppressed. They can make communicatio harder, though.

    Good luck with it all.

If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

So 2 weeks after my appointment, I receive a booklet in the post about elbow pain.

I was told they would send me a splint and information realting to my wrist, as they were out of stock of both items when I had my appointment.

I guess I may as well give up on getting any support via the NHS.
