Hello I’m new!
Over the years I have been diagnosed with wear and tear arthritis in my back, neck, shoulders, knee, hands and feet. It feels like being dismissed by the GP when they say it’s just wear and tear. It still makes me ache and wakes me at night. Does anyone else feel like a hypochondriac when asking for help with their joints? I’m 68 btw so no spring chicken but not that old either as I still look after my grandchildren several days a week.

Hello, @Elainech13 and welcome to the forum.
I see that having lived for several years with osteoarthritis in many areas and also with the dismissive attitude of your GP. Firdtly, you are not a hypochondriac. The pain of arthritis is real as is the impact it can have. Sadly, many of those with the condition report a problem with getting others to accept the reality, this can extend to family members as well as the medical profession.

Sorry you are struggling with the pain.
has your doctor referred you for further investigation on the pain you have? I was recently diagnosed with RA and some OA in my hand and feet, but it took them a while to confirm at the hospital, as not all my inflammatory markers were raised.
like you I was kept awake by severe pain. I am now on steroids, which have helped. I have also been prescribed anti arthritis drugs, which hopefully will keep the pain under control.
if you are suffering go back to your GP. I am in my 60s too. Good luck
