Severe Ankle Arthritis

Been diagnosed with severe left ankle arthritis and its making my life miserable The pain is unbearable and have had all the painkillers and even steroid injection

Had to reduce my working week to three days and even that is unbearable now just need advice if possible on what to do next ie possibly giving up work what benefits I could claim anything that might reduce the pain to bearable level etc

    Hi @Gaz1959

You don't say what work you do so I am just wondering whether it involves standing? If so, maybe your employer can relocate you to a post where you can sit down.

You may have already thought about this of course apologies if you have. Work is so good for us not only financially, but also for our mental health and from your username I think you may be some years off retirement age.

I am also presuming there are no surgical options available for you at this point and that you've probably tried physiotherapy if you have already had two steroid injections.

I did this search for you so you can access some discussions about ankle arthritis it might be interesting:

    Best wishes

I was going to ask the same @Gaz1959

Have you seen an orthopaedic consultant at all for their opinion.

My brother in law had both of his fused. He can longer wear heels (not that he did) but the pain is gone completely.

There are options when things get bad enough.

    Take care
