At my last app with the RA nurse last Friday I pointed out that had a rash on both ankles & tiny blisters & tiny red lumps come up on my fingers, after looking at them she told me not to take my Methotrexate on the Saturday incase either was an infection & to get my GP asap to check them out & gave me a number for the advice line to leave a message for her when I had...cldnt get a GP appointment so went to local walk-in centre on the Saturday & saw GP there who said ankle rash was due to trauma to the blood vessels through constant swelling as RA not under control & blisters ect on hands was definitely not an infection but most probably being caused by the Methotrexate so rang the helpline on Monday & explained this & asked cld the nurse contact me as wasn't sure or very happy to start Methotrexate again this Saturday without speaking to her or someone first..after not taking it last Saturday I'm definitely seeing a slight improvement in my hands ! She also said about starting me on daily folic acid instead of once a week but not from when & my prescription amount hasn't changed !! With Saturday approaching & still non the wiser about shld I start up Methotrexate again or when to up the folic acid I'm getting in abit of a stew worrying.....can't think of anything else to do apart from try ringing again tomorrow & asking for message to be passed on again & honestly with being on nothing ATM the joint pain & swelling is totally getting me down & feel I don't know where to turn next 🙄

Hi @Angel666 it really is a case of keep trying to contact the rheumatology nurse as to the best way forward - or could try 111 though it may be a bit specialist for them

Need more help? - call our Helpline on0800 5200 520Monday to Friday 9am to 6pm

Hi @noddingtonpete finally got through to someone on advice line who took the time to speak to consultant & nurse on my behalf & actually called me back ☺️☺️ they have decided to keep me off Methotrexate for another week & restart me the week after on a slightly lower dose & upping my folic acid to 6 days a week & to carry on atm with fortnightly blood tests...

The tiny lumps & blisters have improved since off Methotrexate & if they start to return when I start it up again then to ring back immediately & decision will be made to try something different ☺️

What a difference it makes wen u get someone who understands your problem on the phone 👍

    Thankyou for your reply x
