Hello again
Hello everyone, after a long absence on my part. Should love to hear from anyone who has had to have a wrist fusion., which is what I maybe facing after 3 failed ops on my right wrist.
What difficulties did you have to face and cope with? My Consultant has told me I will need 6 weeks in plaster following the op and then a further 6 weeks in a lighter plaster. How much mobility do you have in your wrist following the op? What can you manage or not manage to do?
I need to bear in mind that my left wrist is also in a splint and needs to have a Trapeziectomy in due course but, at the present time, the right one wouldn't be able to cope on its own whilst the left one was recovering. As I live on my own, I need to be able to manage as much as possible, although there is limited help available where I live.
If anyone has any suggestions or advice, I would be very grateful to hear from you.

Hi @kentishlady
I haven't had a wrist fusion but I did have wrist replacement surgery about 15 years ago. Although it has left me with about 30% movement, I can manage quite well doing everyday things as long as I dont lift anything too heavy. It certainly stopped the pain!
The Versus Arthritis has some information on wrist surgery that you might find useful.
Do let us know how you get on,
