Newly diagnosed with Polymyalgia Rheumatica
Hi everyone . I was diagnosed with PMR last week after several weeks of symptoms and was started on steroids. I was started on 40 mgs a day because they thought I had Giant Cell Arteritis which it turns out I don't ( thank god) I spent week feeling GREAT and like I could run a marathon 😀I've now started 4 weeks of steroids at 15mgs a day and I'm feeling good. I'm just wondering if there is anything I can be doing to help myself apart from the obvious good food and exercise. I didn't sleep much at all last week but slept a bit better last night so I'm hoping this will settle down as time goes on 🤞🤞

My sister had PMR, now coming out the other side after a longish spell on steroids, so you have my sympathy. Like with so many of these conditions, you may find there will be good days and bad, but it's important not to overdo it on the good days as you may pay for it later and it will take longer to recover. Learning to pace yourself is really important. Listen to your body and allow it to rest when it needs it, which may need a quiet day, rather than a quiet evening. Talk to your GP about any side effects you start getting from the steroids, they should be able to help with some of those as well.
