Rheumatoid arthritis and strep infection
Hi, I have rheumatoid arthritis and my wife works as a teacher in a primary school, i wondered if the risk of contracting strep was more of an issue for me and if I should discuss this with my GP, I have heard that anyone immune compromised can ask for a preventative antibiotic but I’m not sure if that is true or not.Can anyone shed any light on this please?
Thanks
Mark

Hi @Rusty73,
Thank you for joining and posting on our helpline forum.
We fully understand your concerns especially with your partner working at a school. With the condition that you have (Rheumatoid arthritis) as I am sure that you are already aware it is very important that you protect yourself from any infections as this could bring on a flare up, so wearing a mask and carrying hand sanitiser with you can help.
Unfortunately, we currently do not have any information on strep and how it can affect anyone who is immune compromised we are sorry, we would suggest that you contact your healthcare practitioner for further advice.
Best wishes
Chris
