Hi, my name is vanisha. I am an optometrist and was diagnosed with lupus in 2018. One of the symptoms with lupus is locked joints and swelling which causes severe pain and discomfort as many of you can relate too. As an Optom, I rely heavily on my hands to do my job but when I am going through a flare it makes working so difficult and with the fatigue and pain even harder. I have been trying to raise awareness especially in the south Asian community as lupus/ arthritis is not very known. I have started an IG page with the hope to help other individuals and families as I believe it’s not only the person suffering who is on the journey but those around us too. Arthritis is seen to be associated with the elderly but there are so many young people who suffer silently. If there are any platforms where stories for awareness can be shared I’d love to help/ share
