New Swelling on Knee
Hello, it’s me again.
Still getting used to living with arthritis. Have found that Ibuprofen is useful in minimising pain. I try to take less than the maximum recommended dosage. Latest problem is swelling above the kneecap. Is this due to the arthritis? or could it be side effect of Ibuprofen?
Has anyone experienced a similar problem?
Thanks in anticipation
Regards, Susquehanna

Hi @Susquehanna
I’ve got RA and some mornings I’ll wake up with swelling around my knee cap. It’s usually if I’ve done a bit more than usual the previous day, but not always. It always goes after a couple of days so I don’t worry about it too much, but if yours is swollen for several days, or you’re worried about it, it might be worthwhile upping your ibuprofen to the recommended dose to see if that helps.
Here’s a link to some information on Osteoarthritis of the knee. It includes some helpful tips on managing pain and keeping flexible.
Best wishes,
