Activ8

Has anybody tried a newly promoted supplement called Activ8? I have just watched another lengthy promo video by a Dr Paul O’Connell, claiming some very impressive results from this product, but with the usual ‘hard sell’ to bulk buy or subscribe, to get the best deal?

At around £45 per month this seems expensive, but if effective, would be worth it, to get some relief from the current debilitating pain levels.

Any feedback would be helpful

Thank you,

John W

Thank you for your post on the forum where you ask if anyone has tried a supplement called Activ8. We do not endorse any particular products and it might be helpful to look through our information about complementary therapies and supplements. Because there are many types of complementary and alternative medicine, you should always talk to your doctor before you start treatment. It is not possible to generalise about whether they work or not. Effectiveness might be judged by whether you feel better but it also may relate to measurable improvement in your condition or general well-being.

I have attached links to our website with information for you to take a look at. Has anyone tried Activ8 supplements ? Have watched the very long advertising video. Don't mind spending £50 it if genuine. Thanks in advance.

I understand that you are thinking of trying Activ8. There are many discussions on here about this, e.g.

We do not endorse any products and as with all complimentary medicines some work for some and not others. I would recommend having a read through some of the posts on here before you commit to buying something. The search results are

    Hi @Joma,

This particular product comes up quite a lot here, probably because it's well-advertised.

I didn't but Activ8 because it's hellishly expensive, instead I bought the constituent ingredients.

After about 6 weeks-odd, I was actually feeling worse, not better. My legs were hotter than usual (I have severs OA in both knees), achy and throbbing and I was getting a lot of locks and stabbing pains which had a habit of striking at the most inconvenient times.

I experimented by cutting out the ingredients one by one and I think the main culprit was Glucosamine which also appears in some of the other main ingredients of Activ8. I've kept up the Turmeric and Boswellia as they do seem to help with inflammation. I'm in no way saying to avoid it, just if you are going to get it and you feel worse it may be one or more of the ingredients.

A lot of Activ8's publicity focuses on cartilage regeneration, I've got none left so it was never really going to work anyway. Cartilage doesn't have it's own blood supply so once it's gone, it's gone.

If your Arthritis is mild, i.e you've a goodly amount of cartilage left then it may work. Same goes for Steroid injections BTW - they're most effective in patients with cartilage.

    Hope that helps!

I think I personally don't trust it. You can't seem to get many independent (not on their site) reviews which I think is a bit suss.

Did you find anyone that has tried it? I’ve just seen the video you probably watched. As you say - it may be worth it if it works. Lots of the complimentary treatments and supplements are mentioned in the video as ingredients of Activ8. I’m sceptical of purchasing it though as I can’t find anyone whose actually tried it.

Hi Joma, I´ve been using this product for the last 14 days. It takes between 3 to 4 weeks to take effect.

    Hi @Joma,

It is genuine in as much as all the ingredients are real but there are some doubts over the efficacy of some of the ingredients in treating Arthritis, i.e scare medical proof from clinical trials. Most of the ingredients can be studied on this website, I'm thinking specifically of Glucosamine, Choindratin and Type 2 collagen. Secondly, whilst Curcumin is a proven anti-inflammatory ingesting it as Turmeric isn't very efficient, even with black pepper because Turmeric itself has so little. I take a specific Curcumin and Peperine capsule along with Boswellia, another anti-inflammatory with evidence to back up its efficacy.

For what Activ8 contains, I think it provides a bit of a 1-stop shop as a supplement, albeit an expensive one but there can be no harm in trying it unless you are susceptable to any of the side-effects of course and if activ8 don't mention these, best to read up on each of the active ingredients to be safe and sure.

    Best,

hi, I am half way through my first bottle. Apparently it can take up to 3 mths to feel any effects. Most of the ingredients I was already taking except for the collagen, hyaluronic acid and eggshell membrane. Time will tell but I decided to give it a go because I felt desperate. Mind you they also advise on food and other supplements. I think people are put off by the cost but when you buy the stuff separately it probably balances out cost wise. My advice would be not to wait until bone on bone makes creaking noises like an old piece of wooden furniture. The company is run by a gp. Hope this helps.

I’ve been taking it for a year & think it helps. I definitely have less pain, not sure that it’s possible to regenerate cartilage. However, as my pain has reduced significantly, I will continue to buy it.

As with everyone it can work or not work. I have come to the end of my original prescription and still can’t say yea or nay to its success. As with some supplements is is like shutting the door after the horse has bolted. It might be worth singling out the items separately which appear to give more satisfaction. As one message says the cartilage is crucial and we are not made aware early enough of how to deal with it in an effective way. veryaraf

  • Just saw it advertised and did a Google check as I always do with this type of thing. This is a Trustpilot review from one buyer of the Activ8 co-called miracle cure:

DO NOT USE this company, the active 8 product didn't work and they say they offer a full refund. There are conditions attached, which they don't state along with the guarantee, or tell you when you buy their products. Very misleading and dishonest, as you only find out the conditions when you want to return them. I wonder if the suppliments are actually what they say they are. I have been taking glucosamine suppliments for a couple of years, but these sounded even better with additional ingredients. Within a few weeks of taking them my arthritus pain was back, stopped taking them and went back to my original suppliments and the pain reduced again. Currently checking to see where I stand legally, it may not help me but will help people in the future from loosing their money.........So I have been back on my original joint relief capsules now for a few months now and the pain has pretty much gone. Further proof that these products are useless. Please don't waste your money. use Terranova Glucosamine, my dog is also on them.

Hello @Sagittarius and welcome to the Community. We are a friendly and supportive group and I hope that will be your experience as well.

As with all complimentary treatments and supplements what works for some does not work for all. I've put in a couple of links below which might be of interest, but with all these types of supplements try if you want to and if you find something which helps you then great. Otherwise move on.

    and

Please let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes
