Methotrexate is one of many DMARDS, here is some info about it and the options available that you can discuss with your rheumatology team. It can sometimes take a few trial and errors to find the right treatment that works for you so it's good to know what's available.

Hi John, I'm new here also. I'm waiting for baseline bloods and xray with the veiw ( after much concern about taking immune suppressent drugs) to trying Sulfalsalazine, also a disease modifying drug. I'm told it will calm my auto immune and hopefully my joint inflamation. I was told at the clinic that it does not work for evrybody, but they have others drug in their treasure chest. I just need to bite the bullet and try. Still need 2 weekly blood tests for the first three months, for liver and kidney function, which is scary to hear. However a local Phamarsist tells me that he he issues it on a regular basis, so I assume there are people out there it must be working for.
