Can osteoarthritis symptoms be made worse when you are going through the menopause.

Some days I can hardly move let alone exercise. Just wondering if there is anything I can do.

Yes it can ! Hrt can prevent osteoarthritis x

I've been told not allowed hrt due to breast cancer in family. So hrt isn't a option unfortunately.

@Freda1100 , I see that, in the link @Hairobsessed123 has given it says that the 'oestragen only' type of HRT is less likely to cause breast cancer so, if this is something that interests you, it might be worth having a chat with your GP about it.

Some of the gentle exercises on this site might help. Just range of movement when it's bad. Strengthening ones when it's not too bad. It's all kept me going for years.

@Hairobsessed123 , i've looked twice at the link but can find no reference to osteoarthritis. Could you point out where it mentions it, please?

ahhh I can see we have crossed wires on this ! Osteoarthritis can lead onto osteoporosis that’s why I do think hrt can help it’s about bone loss ect !

plus when we head into menopause joints can ache regardless if we have arthritis or not so in my opinion it can help with joint pain and it can certainly help with bone loss and fractures as we get older !

I meant hrt can help with osteoporosis! Haveing osteoarthritis can often lead onto osteoporosis which is bone loss and having a fall would makes fractures more common so hrt can help this x
