Arthritis in my hip
Hi, I am on the list for a total hip replacement but I am struggling to walk because of the pain. As I am under a consultant NHS physios cannot help me. I am trying to use crutches but as I haven’t been told how to use them in my situation I am struggling to walk, I cannot even lift my good leg as it moves my bad hip. I am living in one room at the moment with help but I feel I can’t live like this until my op. Has anyone else been in this situation?

Hi @lindatb
Welcome to the versus arthritis forum.
Whilst awaiting a hip replacement operation you are in pain and struggling to get to grips with your crutches.
Have you tried contacting your GP? He/she should be able to advise you on appropriate pain relief medication. Also, I suspect that your GP surgery nurse would be able to either help you get used to your crutches or provide a relevant information leaflet.
