Medication for rheumatoid arthritis
Hello,
I'm new to this discussion group and just wanted to ask, how did you feel when you first started taking RA meds? I was prescribed methotrexate for 4 months but the lethargy and brain-fog was just too much. I have just tried sulfasalazine, which again made me feel exhausted, along with horrible heartburn and diarrhoea. I've stopped taking sulfasalazine, so am only on prednisolone. I'm currently feeling exhausted and in pain. In between telephone appointments with rheumatology I only have access to a helpline, which is just an answer machine, and I've just received a text to say I'll get a phone call in two weeks. I'm no further forward with my RA then I was when I was diagnosed over a year ago. Any suggestions welcome. Thank you.

Sounds like. your tackling the exhaustion @Lou1234 by spitting out the medicine. Prednisolone is quite good stuff though, so I would hang onto that. If you spit out the prednisolone I would expect you regret it within a day if not sooner.
There might be something more you can dredge up from experience though, that normally helps you with the exhaustion. Its a very individual thing, like an airline pilot might be exhaused for a different reason to a mother and so on.
You might want to write down why you phoned the help line, in case you forget by the time they answer.
