Newly diagnosed
Hi everyone, my name is Debbie, I'm 61 and live in Shropshire.
After a few years of suffering with joint and tendon pain, as well as mild psoriasis, I was diagnosed last Friday with PSA and having had more bloods and x-rays done, I am now waiting for an appointment with the rheumatology nurse now to start Methotrexate and have steroid injections.
It's a scary time for me and I'm sure it is the same for everyone when they are newly diagnosed. I'm not sure what lies ahead but at least now I have support and a treatment plan will be put in place.
I look forward to finding out about PSA and it's treatments along with making friends who understand what I'm going through. It's nice to know I'll be on this journey with people I can share tips, advice and experiences with.

HI @Debbie516 welcome to the online community.
I see from your post that you have a very recent diagnosis of Psoriatic Arthritis (PsA) and are waiting to start treatment.
Getting diagnosis like this is absolutely scary lots of emotions, thoughts and fears will be going through your mind.
Understanding this Versus Arthritis put together this information for those newly diagnosed I hope it will help a little:
I don't know how much information you have been given regarding your condition so i am adding this just in case:
You are indeed now not alone. We have many members here who have PsA and other inflammatory Arthritis conditions who can absolutely relate to and will support you. Now that you've said hello and made your first post do take a look around the forum and join in wherever you feel comfortable. Living with Arthritis tends to be the most popular category after Say Hello.
Best wishes
Ellen.

Hi @Debbie516
I just said hello to another newbie @yaz239 she is being investigated for PsA too.
Well I remember when this first kicked off for me. I was terrified, upset, angry, resentful you name it. I became an arthritis bore to my friends and family and was very very down for a while.
Coming here (and talking to the helplines) was probably the turning point for me. I knew I wasn't alone. Other people had it too and they were the same as me - not different. Just 'normal' if you know what I mean?
Do hang around keep posting ask questions anything we'll help if we can
Take care
Toni x
