Newly diagnosed with polymyalgia and on prednisone

I was put on 25mg of prednisone a few weeks ago and have managed to get this down to 12mg today but still have aching shoulders and hands ( mainly)for a few hours in the morning. My question is, are the steroids meant to take all of the symptoms away as I do not want to be taking high dose for long. Is it normal to still feel stiffness even though taking steroids?

Any advice would be great
