Hip and back osteoarthritis

Hi there, new to the community. Been searching the Internet to try and understand my condition more which led me to here. I'm 38 year old and was diagnosed with osteoarthritis in my back and hip about 3 year ago or more. This last year it has become a lot worse which was confirmed by a recent xray. Started physiotherapy in the summer awaiting an appointment with the specialist to discuss the next step. I'm on painkillers and walk with a limp every day. I'm still working away but searching for another job that would be easier on my hip. Thanks for listening.

I had facet joint arthritis (arthritis of the spine) and was successfully fused at that level. I think though I was lucky because I had insurance as I don’t think the nhs do many of those procedures. For me though it was a life changer!

unfortunately I now have hip arthritis and am having a replacement in a few weeks. I’ve done a lot of research and it seems that both areas getting arthritis is common and if surgery is necessary then doing the hip first is best. Apparently a fused spine (that I now have) increases the risk of dislocation.

I had quite the experience with my spinal operations. My advice is to get at least a second opinion if you can. Happy to share what I learnt, just ask.
