Errosive Arthritis

I'm 49 years old and recently been diagnosed with errosive arthritis in all of my fingers via a CT scan. My GP will not refer to a rheumatologist for further support (says it's just wear and tear). I'm being offered surgery and painkillers, which I do not want. Has anyone got any advice as to what I do now?
