Hi , have had Fibromyalgia for 20 years, now recently diagnosed with osteoarthritis of both hips and spine. In the early years of Fibro I was working , the doctor prescribed Amitriptyline. I took it for two months but it made me very sluggish and it made work difficult. I wasn’t sure it helped the pain but it was all very new and I was battling lots of things in life. Now retired am thinking wether to try it again , I’m finding nothing is touching the Fibro plus arthritis pain . Is anyone having success or otherwise with Amitriptyline ? Thanks in advance

Hi @Issy23 welcome to the online community.

I see form your post that you have had Fibromyalgia for a very long time and now have added a diagnosis of Osteoarthritis in your hips and spine.

Amitriptyline is a medication you tried many years ago, but it sounds possible that some of your issues with it may have been to do with where you were in your working life and other things.

Lots of people here take the medication. In fact I have also taken it myself when things have been particularly bad for me. I used to take it quite early in the evening about 7pm as it didn't send me to sleep quickly. The first few days I did feel sluggish the following day, but adjusted well in time.

In case you'd like to look at it I am attaching a link to information about the medication and also a 'search' I did for you for threads about it:

    My best wishes

    Ellen.
