35 Years Old and Newly Diagnosed

Hi everyone, I have just been diagnosed with osteoarthritis in both hips. I am 35 years old. I went to see my doctor complaining of hip pain and discomfort in my right hip for a few months. I also have bowed legs which I thought might be contributing. I was referred for an x-ray due to my medical history including a leg break as an infant. The x-ray showed arthritis in both hips. It has left me feeling quite shocked and asking a lot of questions. I guess I am looking for reassurance that there are other people like me and are managing the condition.

You must be feeling quite shocked after getting this diagnosis at 35. You have at least come to the right place for support and reassurance.

Hi @seantc welcome from me too.

I do wonder like you whether the bowed legs are relevant. I think when our joints have pressure put on them by an unusual gait it makes sense it can have an impact.

The number of people who come here with hip pain and it's actually their back or knee pain and it's actually their hip.

If it helps there are indeed lots of people diagnosed with Arthritis in their 30's or even younger.

Thank you for your kind comments. I have been given exercises and stretches for both my hips and knee. My doctor is hoping for this to help my bowed legs.

I look at those links as I am trying to learn as much as I can. Thank you ❤️
