6 weeks post TKR
Hello lovely people,
im just after a little advice please. I’m 6 wks post op TKR and also struggle with Fibromyalgia. My recovery has been slow and painful as pain has not been well controlled and I am unable to take anti-inflammatory medication due to gastritis and previous stomach ulcers.
my question is, how long do I have to achieve full extention of my knee and a 90 degree bend? My knee feels stiff and any gains made whilst exercising soon disappear when resting. I’m worried that scar tissue is preventing movement and that I may need to go back to theatre.
any advice will be great fully received, kind regards, A.

Hi @NanaA ,
Recovery from a TKR does differ from person to person, so it’s difficult to predict how soon you should have full extension of the knee.
There’s a question on the link above about the time it takes to heal after knee surgery, and the surgeon answered that it can take up to a year to heal. If you’re able to get in touch with your GP, consultant or physiotherapist, you might get a clearer answer, specific to your condition.
Best wishes,
