Sacroiliitis

Hi,

I’m new to the group. I’ve recently been diagnosed with sacroiliitis (sero-negative arthritis)and knee osteoarthritis. I need a knee replacement but can’t have one due to my weight and the risk of taking me off warfarin.

I’m in chronic daily pain in both my back and knee and injections haven’t helped. I can’t take painkillers other than paracetamol and I’m at a complete loss as to how to get through this.

Any advice would be really appreciated, thank you!

Hello @esta40 and welcome to the Community. We are a friendly and supportive group and I hope that will be your experience as well.

Below are some links to back pain and knee pain which might contain some useful hints as to how to help alleviate it.

    and

There is other useful information on our website such as pain management so I would suggest having a look around it.

    With best wishes

    Hi @esta40

My psoriatic arthritis has caused damage to my right sacroiliac joint according to my rheumatologist. When the pain is bad I use a lidocaine patch on my lower back below my belt line on the right side. It doesn't work immediately but if I repeat daily - you can only have the patch on for 12 hours per day - it works for me. I also use one on my left knee - my rheumatologist told me last year I need a replacement knee - and it helps there. The lidocaine patches are only on prescription and are expensive so some GPs are reticent to prescribe them.
