@MaryL44 and @Fran54 thank you for your responses am so glad I’ve found this community. I spent some time reading through the posts and can see how varied people’s experiences are which has helped me see milestones aren’t set in stone and recovery is an individual journey. Feeling more positive and knowing I can dip in and out of here and see how others are managing and get advice and support will be a real help. Love the term ‘hippies’

Thank you @Janlyn woke up to read your msg this morning after a miserable night of little sleep, it’s so reassuring to hear you had the same difficulties with sleeping on your back. Interesting what your physio said about exercises, I’ll bear that in mind as lying down ones have become easier, will try a few of the standing ones again today. I don’t have a physio just a post op booklet and won’t see anyone until 6week check up so your comments are really helpful. Thank you

@soohogg it's so hard, I know, I found I was so fed up of trying to sleep that by 5.00am I couldn't try any more so I got up, got a coffee, then promptly fell asleep in the chair for an hour or two.

Quick update - today it's 50 weeks to the day since my THR. I've had my 12 month review this afternoon and my consultant is happy with my hip and discharged me - I feel quite elated!

My leg is actually stronger now than I remember is being in years, if ever. I have still some way to go to reach my full potential, apparently, as my consultant says my hip was really bad and so it will take a little more time. But as I'm averaging over 11,000 steps a day and doing most things I want to do, and haven't any pain I'm really happy.

Take care everyone, I'll keep popping in here to see how you're all doing, and thank you for accompanying me on my last year's journey and for all your advice and support 😊

I cannot believe it is nearly a year and am so pleased that you are feeling so well. I read your journal ( along with others ) and found them an inspiration. This also helped me on my journey and I realised I was not alone and gave me confidence to go ahead with my THR. Wishing you all the best for the future.🤗

@frogmorton - absolutely I'll hang around and if I can help anyone else through this journey then I will, you've all been amazing and kept me sane. Thank you all.

@Nurina - absolutely life-changing and I'm so happy you're out the other side with your second now - you really deserve an easier time and to progress quickly to a full and normal life.

@Fran54 - thank you for your kind words and your support - it really helps not to be alone but with people who understand the journey doesn't it?

    Take care all, x
