Multiple joint replacements

Hi all

i have been told by two surgeons now that I need both hips and both knees replacing and my first surgery (tkt) will take place later this year - it’s pretty daunting and I was wondering if anyone else was on a similar trajectory? It would be great to hear from others in this situation

    Hi @Arl,

I had both my knees replaced during one operation, then 11 years later had one redone. I've had my knuckles replaced on my left hand and a right shoulder reverse replacement. I'm not sure whether you're looking for people who have a similar timetable to you or someone who has had more than one replacement. I do think any surgery is daunting and isn't fun but you will find it does benefit you and gets rid of the awful pain you're in now.

    Hello @Emmasknackeredjoints,

I have had no post implant infections. I had to have the revision on my right knee because the implant had worked loose. The knee had extra stress on it because my right ankle fused itself many years ago. My left knee which was replaced at the same time 23 years ago is still going strong! It changed my life for the better having joint replacements and I have no regrets. 😊

Thank you for your comments- yes I was wanting to find out how multiple surgeries have been for others - it is daunting but I don’t want to spend the next 20-30 years in the pain and reduced mobility I am currently experiencing
