Rheumatoid Arthritis- Story
Hi Everyone, my name is Rebecca,
I have joined this online community because I was diagnoised with Rheumatoid Arthritis last year at the age of 32. It has been six months since I started the different medication Methotrexate for my Arthritis. It took over a month and half to see any results and luckily I have had no side effects. This week ahead I have a Telephone consultation appointment with my Rheumatology nurse to discuss the in's and outs of everything on how I am doing physically as well as emotionally. I feel very graitful that they have found a medication long term which has suited me better and not made me unwell like steriods did. I hope they keep me on this medication for as long as possible and that it keeps me stabilized. I do not know what the future holds for my condition with me but I'm very thankful and happy that I'm able to walk better. Without this medication or the care of Rheumatology I wouldn't be so lucky. I'm supporting this online community to share some of my stories. Who else has Rheumatoid Arthritis?- Rebecca.

Hello @rebecca1001 and welcome to the online community.
I was diagnosed with Pallindromic Rheumatiod Arthritis last year and recently Osteoarthritis.
I am on Hydroxycholoquine and consultant has mentioned starting Methrotrexate aswell soon.
I have had steroid tablets and injections but found no benefit at all to be honest.
I attended the following courses which helped me through last year.....
Best wishes and keep posting @Naomi33

Hi everyone, I'm Jacqi 😜 56yrs Diagnosed RA positive 2022 put on Methotrexate and prednisone. Worked wonders. Development methotrexate pneunomitis Dec 2022 so swapped to Amgevita March 2023. Prednisone now down to 2.5mg p/d from 20mg 2x a day.
Having mild flare at the moment and hoping it doesn't escalate.
Looking forward to chatting with people that "get it". Thanks for having me.

Hi . Similar story to me. I’ve not long finished my steroids, and the pain has been returning steadily. My rheumatology nurse has upped my methotrexate last week by 2.5mg. I’ve been taking paracetamol daily to try take the edge off. How are you coping?

Hi,
I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis last year and have found that hydroxychloroquine has greatly reduced the pain in my hands and wrists and has given me back more mobility of my joints. Hopefully this will continue to work without needing to add yet another medication to the plethora that I’m already on.
I’m glad the meds are working for you,
Matt

How long did it take for you to get used to taking Methotrexate? I’ve had two doses via injection and have been feeling rotten on it.
