Great joy

So today I have been out cycling for the first time post Op. I wasn't as fast as previously and I didn't go as far as I know I can but it went well.

What is currently filling me with more joy is that this is the first time in 10 years I've cycled pain free.

Well done @Denis68! I'm waiting for the warmer, drier weather before I venture out. It's the exercise bike and Spin classes for me in the meantime, though not pain-free alas but almost!

Wow, well done, @Denis68 that's great to hear.

I've got as far as clearing a path in my garage so I can get to my bike - it's had all sorts stacked up against it for the last four years so thanks for motivating me. It'll be good to hear how you progress! 🚴

So, as it's approaching sixth months since my op (THR) on 18th I thought it would be a good time to check in.

I don't get on here as much as I would like, partly because I've been fully back to work for the past four months and get quite busy and partly because the speed of change has slowed.

I'm feeling great, pain free and have good mobility. I'm working on building up my muscle strength and getting both legs stronger, so far so good. I'm now able to cycle most of the way to work, currently around 14 of an 18 mile journey and back on the same day. My next goal is to cycle to work one day and home the next.

I've now got back to being fully mobile in the garden, which is a mixed blessing as I can no longer put off the less enjoyable tasks 😁

All in all I feel great, much better than I thought I would. If you're reading this pre op and having the inevitable worries, from my experience it's completely worth going ahead. If you're reading this post Op, I hope you're recovery has gone or does go as well as mine.

    Take care everyone ❤️

This is lovely to hear, I’m 5 weeks post op THR and I’m struggling a bit with pain in my groin, I hope it’s just muscular,I’m doing my exercises so I hope it’s just muscles that I’ve not used in years that’s giving me the pain, anyway you’re giving me hope! Well done 😊

@Denis68 what a brilliant update - I'm so glad you're doing so well. Having to do the least-liked bits of the garden seems a small price to pay!
