Chondromalacia
I have had an MRI which shows high grade chondromalacia in each hip. I am in so much pain I can't walk without a stick. My doctor has said this is arthritis? when you goggle it, it says articular cartilage degeneration. Has anybody on here have the same thing and how was it treated? My GP has referred me to orthopedics but has requested a routine appointment. When I phoned they said could be five months before I am seen. I am on medication but it just dulls the pain which is constant. I am getting physio but has made no improvement.

I have it in 1 hip and both knee caps
Painful yes but not suitable for surgery yet.
Unfortunately it only warrants routine app. As much as we would all like urgent. Frustrating I know.
I find warms baths are comfortable and hydrotherapy

Emma, I can't walk more than 100yards without a stick as in so much pain were you given treatment for your hip?

No. Just painkillers. And changed my shoes with insoles to take some pressure off which did help some.
Steriod injection coming soon though. Can u ask to try that?
