Hiya...Can anyone give me an idea of how long the waiting list is for a knee replacement.

Also how long did your steroid injections last before pain came back.....

I have been told about a business case and that I have to lose weight before one is submitted

Thanks....

Hi @JohnBaxter waiting times seem to vary depending what part of the country so there is no definitive answer, though you should have been given an indication of how long the queue is. Not sure about the business case - it might be worth calling our Helpline (number below) to find out more information.

Hi @JohnBaxter. If you ring the orthopaedics department of the hospital you should be able to find out how many more weeks you have to wait, but as @noddingtonpete says, it depends where you live. In my area it has come down a lot because they are operating on Sundays as well as during the week.

I am having to wait for nearly 3 months to get an appointment to see a physio for an assessment on my knee in North Yorkshire!! Goodness knows how long after that to even seeing a surgeon to discuss surgery on the NHS.

Does this group get any discount from any private hospital?

Hello @Richmond and welcome to the Online Community. We are a friendly and supportive group and I hope that will be your experience as well.

Sadly no we don't get a discount for private surgery - it would be good if we did. Waiting times for the NHS do seem to vary between regions. We do have some useful information on our website so why not take a look, I've put a couple of links in below as a starter.

    and

I hope that you get an appointment soon, but please keep us updated as to progress.

    Best wishes

    Peter

Hi @JohnBaxter the waiting list will depend on what part of the country you are, and if the referral is marked as routine or urgent. As far as the steroid injections, they can vary from person to person. Some last for months, and some weeks. Hope this helps
