Glucosamine and type 2 diabetes
Would I be able to take glucosamine with my type 2 diabetes medications? Metformin, alogliptin and flowing.

Thanks for your message.
Glucosamine is an amino sugar derived from shellfish or made in a laboratory. It is found naturally in the body, and play an important role in the building blocks of cartilage and other soft tissues in the joint. There is a risk that it can affect your sugar levels so greater care may be needed before you take them. As @Naomi33 says your GP or pharmacist may be best to advise you on if it is safe for you to take as you medication may need to be adjusted.
Using complementary and alternative medicines can be a useful addition to other techniques, such as gentle exercise, weight control and painkillers/NSAIDs, which are all used to manage arthritis.
