Osteoarthritis in my thumbs
I'm getting a bit worried and stressed my job like most involves my hands. I have been recently diagnosed with moderate osteoarthritis in both thumbs. Some days are worse than others. I'm nearly 60
My concern is what if I can't work because of the increasing pain.
Any help appreciated a new world for me

Before I had my hip replacement recently I took turmeric capsules on a friend's advice and I do believe it did help with the OA in my thumbs. Might be worth a try?

Hi. I’ve had a trapeziectomy on my left thumb. The thumb is healing well and everything is fine with that but my wrist is giving me so much pain.
My wrist must have been clamped while the operation was done, is it likely they have damaged the bone in my wrist now? Has anyone else had this trouble? Any advice would be appreciated0 -
Hi @PeterE
When did you have your trapeziectomy? If it was recently, I would speak to your surgeon at your next review. If not, you may need to go through your GP for referral to Physio, MSK, Xrays and referral to orthopaedics again. If you can convince your GP to send you directly for an xray it may help.
I also have a problem with my wrist post trapeziectomy four years ago but don't think it's associated with my surgery even though it's the same side. Luckily I have an appointment with the wonderful Surgeon who did my original surgery tomorrow.

I’m losing use of my right thumb, it’s locked straight now, very painful, for writing and every day tasks. Want to speak to others that have the same but new to this site so don’t know how to find others??

Hello @Keepmoving22 and welcome to the Online Community. We are a friendly and supportive group and I hope that will be your experience as well.
You ask about how to connect with others with similar problems - well you've taken the first step by posting this.
You might find the following booklet of interest
i myself have arthritis in my thumbs, though mine hasn't locked up yet, though one of my fingers does from time to time so I understand how painful and debilitating it can be. I hope that yu can get some medica help for this soon.
Best wishes
Peter

I have OA in my thumbs and fingers. I have to use my hands to type at work.
I manage the continual discomfort by a combination of the following; HNS prescribed compression gloves, tumeric tea, ginger massage oil, a hot water bottle that has a hand insert, ergonomic keyboard and wrist support, taking breaks every hour, using the dictation software on my computer and if all these fail I will then take some medication

Same boat as yours and got inspired to share own personal explorations… so created 3 photomontages to show you plus enclosing own review.
All bought from eBay, I trust you will find your way if of interest to own journey. (Not giving links or sellers' names as my review is not about advertising for any sellers)
Technically middle joint right thumb started to click March 24 (RA damage), middle joint left thumb started to click just over a months ago & 1 finger has 1 tender joint but no daily clicking yet.
I recently discovered the splint which you will see in 2 photomontages. Stranger's hands - transparent & mine flesh colour (same maker/seller). Complete personal assessment: splint's design and concept is a piece of genius:)))
As thumb is kept in splint it is no longer cracking, yummy! & so should prevent or really slow down further wear&tear of painful joint, that, plus, keeping thumb straight opposed to rapid &/or gradual thumb or fingers deformity:(
'Find thumb very functional with splint on all day long and rotate it on the side when a bit more fold is needed.
May some of this be helpful to you.
Gentle smile
