Work - Disability time off

Hi,
I work full time, but need time off for physio / doctors / consultants etc. My employers allow me 12 hours paid appointments per year, which I have already used. I know I will need a lot more time off this year for appointments. Has anybody gone to their employers about the disability act for osteoarthritis (ankle mine), to get time off for appointments? I get paid full sick pay which I never had to use only for my latest op.

how did you go about it? how were the employers about it?

thanks

Dave

Hi @daveh1980 have a read through the following, hopefully of some help

Need more help? - call our Helpline on0800 5200 520Monday to Friday 9am to 6pm

  • Can you not have physio later in the day or contact access to work but think there is a long wait..

Ive had opps an appointentment's for the last 30 year's although i was councill then tuped over my employer's used to go mad as i was off for the whole 6month's full pay with all my opps double wrist fusion/both knee's replaced/ double left ankle fusion an that's not including all the times my knees were flused out..

Have a look at the the 2010 equality act which replaced the Disability d act they would have to make Reasonable adjustments if you look on the acas web site under Reasonable adjustments its all in there, one thing i would say Dave is don't be afraid to speak about your disability if you problem has lasted longer than a year...

Acas are very good they give inpartial advice an will act for you if needed...

Good luck an keep us updated..
