Anti Inflamatory advice
After a 5 week cancer scare and losing 1.1stone in wheight i need some advice on alternative anti inflamotory drugs.
colonoscopy 13/4 all clear. was 13 stone befor but with the great prep they supply to clear you out i went down to 11st 13lb overnight.
CT abdo pelvis 8/5 all clear
Endoscopy (oh cr&p, never again) 10 mins turned into 25 mins and suction pump wasnt working properly so couldnt remove camera tube. worst experience of my life so far.
This showed up scaring and erosion that doctor said was most probably caused by Froben 100mg ibrufen anti inflamotary and to stop immediately. Ive been on these tabs for over 35 years and cant just stop without having an alternative. also told to double lansopryzol to 2 a day.
Monday will try and get urgent rhumy appt but in the mean time are there any other anti inflamatorys out there. im sure ive tried loads back in the 80's but froben was the only one that seemed to do anything for me.
strange how this stomach pain only started 5 weeks ago after 35 years of taking this drug.
also on 20mg methotrexate, 1gram sulphasalazine, 6 weekly bio similar remsima infusion, statin.
Worth asking here before i can speak to my rhumy. Thanks all.

I can only tell you my experience of NSAIDS. I was on them for years before DMARDS started being prescribed. Back in the day there were loads more and I probably had the lot. I'd be OK for about 6 weeks then would have a day of non-stop vomiting. I recall telling my GP it couldn't be the latest NSÀID because it specifically said it didnt cause stomach problems. He openeď the dtawer of his deak revealing loads of leaflets. All for NSAIDS. The selling point for àll of them, he explained, was that they didn't affèct the stomach. And tha4, he said, was because thy all did.
My first enďoscopy revealed severe scarring of the stomach lining with evidencè of healed ulcers.. I never had NSAIDS again but have alwys been on a stomach protector. The Cox2 inhibitors were deemed too dodgy foŕ mè.
I tolerate meth and hydroxy well. (And endoscopies and colonoscopies, thankfully. I've never lost weighr with the prep, though,)
If you've managed 35 years of NSÀIDS I'm in awe of your stomach😆 but maybe now it has had enough. You could always try an ànri-inflammatory diet. Heee''s whar Johns Hopkkins says on the subject. They are probably the top medical university in the US.

If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Thanks so much @stickywicket
as far as i can remember im sure they tried me on multiple DMARDS & cox2 for 6 months at a time and none seemed to work and they would always return me to Froben as well as 6 sulphasalazine. dropped to 2 when i started mtx back in 2000.
I was on voltarol slow release for a good 10 years but they stopped me taking them for the stomach issues reported but i never noticed anything stomach wise. also co proxamol was stopped due to 3 heart attacks in usa reported so they pulled the drug. it was still out there but none of our docs were willing to risk prescribing it again since.
I hear a lot of talk from other patients about Hydroxy so will wait to see what the consultant suggests.
Thank you for the link. ill have a read up but im alergic to the word diet :D
