Trapeziectomy Recovery
Hi
I had my trapeziectomy about 19 weeks ago. Just wondering if anyone was still around this forum after that amount of recovery time. Initially I had a bit pain then was pain free until I returned to work (office based) around 6-7 weeks ago. I have been discharged by both consultant and physio yet still suffer severe stiffness after and during work and also pain after doing various tasks with my hand. I have been told to use my hand as normal so I have been, doing gardening,DIY etc. Has anyone else experienced pain this long into recovery and is it normal. Will this pain subside after a period of time or should I just expect this all the time. The pain is all in new places on my hand, knuckles, fingers everywhere. I don’t get the knawing pain that I used to get with the arthritis but pain and stiffness elsewhere else. Any thoughts and advice welcome. Thank you.

Hi
Im still here lol.
Keep exercising that hand as well as normally daily life and one day you'll realise it doesnt hurt anymore. Use the putty and therapy ball every time youre sat relaxing. Don't think of ut as exercise, just fidgeting

Thank you @Trish9556 I mean it feels better but I feel as if it is slowly returning. Not sure if it’s just me overthinking or doing to much. The consultant said to use as normal so I have been and physio said not to do exercises just massage every now and again. I have been doing them however out of habit I suppose now but not using the putty anymore. I’ll give it a go again, thank you for your help as always. When was the time point if you can remember when yours noticeably stopped hurting? Was it before or after 20 weeks do you know. If I didn’t work it would be fine but suppose that can’t be helped haha. The left is at the point the right was now so that doesn’t help as that has gotten much worse due to overuse when the right was in was in early recovery. When I feel it in my left I kind of feel it in my right if that makes sense. Sounds weird but hard to differentiate the pain from each hand haha. Hard to explain I suppose haha.
