Mouth sore and ulcers

Anyone suffer with the above?

After years of osteo arthritis I was diagnosed with inflammatory and more recently polychondritis and have been on Naproxen for about 6 months now.
I have recently been suffering from a sore mouth and now have the beginning of an ulcer. I don’t know if it is from the medication or the inflammatory condition.

Anyone any experience of similar please. ??

Hello @Skinny Keef years ago I was prescribed Naproxen which gave me mouth ulcers but only a cetain brand. Unfortunately it has left me prone to getting them even though I don't take naproxen any more. It is something I've learned to live with sadly.

I was taken off ibuprofen after over 25 years and put on naproxen about 2-3 years ago. I haven’t had a problem with mouth ulcers. I did have a problem biting my cheek and tongue when eating, caused by rheumatoid reaction to the anti- inflammatories when takin ibuprofen and ended up having a callous type growth inside my mouth surgically removed. I’ve been fine since then.
Good luck sorting the origin of your ulcers.

I get them randomly for years and was told it could be do do with methotrexate so to up my folic acid.

was taking 2 folic the day after 20mg mtx so changed to 1 folic every day except mtx day. still get them now and again but can be months between flares so still dont know what acyually casues the flare ups. bonjela helps and they clear after a couple of days.

@Skinny Keef I have been taking Naproxen now for about 3 years, but only everyday over the last 15 months approximately. I do get mouth ulcers occasionally and find cutting out acids as in fruit does help a bit. It does say in the leaflet enclosed that they are part of the side effects.

Doc is supposed to be changing naproxen to something else due to depression. Will chase that up after the BHWE. Hopefully the new drug will be better all round.
