Advice please re crutches after hip op
Hi Friends
Can anyone advise when they went from walking with 2 crutches to 1 in the house ,?,
Also after that when is best to go it alone or did you still use 1 walking stick ?
Thanks in advance ☺️

@anxioussarah I would say definitely go by the advice of your hospital/physio but I actually found myself using one stick and holding onto the furniture within days and my physio was happy with that saying if I felt secure then all was well. I kept to two sticks outside though. I can't remember exactly when I dropped the remaining stick but it was when I found myself across the room having not used it and carried on rather than going back for it. I think a lot depends on circumstances and how you feel, but please take advice from the professionals if you're not sure.
Take care.

Hi, trying to think back I reckon it was when I felt able to move carrying something a short distance that I began using 1 crutch indoors, probably in week 2. This would only have been for odd times, I think it was a bit longer before I started using 1 all the time indoors.
But, as others have said, follow the advice of your physio/surgical team
