Newly diagnosed

Hello, I started suffering with stiffness in my pinky finger about 18 months ago at 42 and it was changing shape. I was eventually diagnosed with OA which is now in several places on the right side of my body especially my hip. I am hoping to get some advice on lifestyle changes to help slow down the degeneration if possible. Any help greatly appreciated.

    Hi @Daisy23

Sorry to hear you've been diagnosed with OA and it's affecting you quite badly especially that hip😕

I heartily recommend looking at this:

I've yet to see my doctor I have a paramedic appointment at my surgery on Thursday to look at my knee, is it normal to be limping around then all of a sudden stop as knee locks and the pain is excruciating?

Hi @Jax6500 and welcome to the online community ( sorry to hijack your post @Daisy23 )

It’s difficult to say what’s normal or not with knee pain, but It’s good that you’ve got an appointment with a paramedic to discuss it fully, including the knee locking and the excruciating pain that you get. Make sure you mention all your symptoms ( sometimes it helps to write them down so you can remember them).

Other members may have experience of similar knee pain and might come and share their experiences.

Meanwhile, perhaps it might help to have a look at the Versus Arthritis page that specifically deals with the knee, the different conditions that could cause pain and the possible treatments:
