Hi I've been advised to have foot fusion operation due to the severity of my ankle arthritis, looking for advice ( ie is it worth it) plus worried about being off work etc

Hi @Howiem welcome to the online community.
Hope this might help:
This search is about ankle fusion in case that's relevant too:
Adding this finally our own information about foot and ankle surgery:
Best of luck and if you go ahead it would be really good to hear how you get on.
Ellen.

Hi @Howiem nice to meet you.
Sorry I've got no experience of such surgeries, but do know just how much surgery takes it out of you. When I had my back op I was back in work after 10 weeks, but I was a single parent, really I think 12 at least would have been much more reasonable and sensible.
I suppose it depends what sort of job you do really how much time you'd need off work. If you can get by using crutches and sit down at work probably sooner than a builder I mean.
As Ellen said it would be great if you can let us know how you get on for the next person who comes along asking for the same help. We have several fantastic threads for hip replacements, but very little for the rarer procedures like yours.
Good luck
Toni x
