Newly diagnosed
good morning everyone, I’ve just got back from an appointment with a musculoskeletal specialist and was given my x-Ray results. It’s definitely osteoarthritis in my left hip and showing it mild or stage 2, while he acknowledged the level of pain and discomfort I am feeling, he says physio for a good 6 months will be the best before a referral to an orthopedic surgeon can be made 😳😳 I’m already on 30mg codine for pain and I’m learning to adjust to living with the pain, everything takes twice as long, leaning to rest when I need to, I struggle massively to sleep 😴 I’ll carry on 🤓

Hello @bluegirl52 and welcome to the online community,
Receiving a diagnosis of osteoarthritis in the hip can seem overwhelming but at the same time, now you know what’s causing your pain, you can begin to work to manage it. Hopefully other members will drop in with some helpful suggestions for how to manage your pain based on their own experience, but meanwhile, you might like to have a look at the link below - it’s all about the condition, what treatment to expect, and how you can help to deal with it:
