    Hi @anxioussarah

I'm slighty behind you and recommend speaking to your physio for their advice. I am still using two sticks and definitely dont feel confident to either ditch a stick or walk too far.

I have my three week assesment on Monday and will see what they say. Its not worth risking the benefits of the new hip with the desire to do things too quickly. If you dont have a session coming up, ring them and ask the question

    Thank you Trish

I would have liked more physio sessions but don't get any since I left hospital will maybe call them next week & ask

Thats ridiculous! I would ask why and if you don't get a sensible answer speak with your GP. Physio post total hip replacement is essential as you could end up doing too much too soon.

Hi @anxioussarah I have just started week 4 post op, my second as I had the other done Feb 1st. Don't fret about it. You are doing really well.

You should have been given an exercise sheet before you left the hospital and you should be doing those at least a couple of times a day of however many repeats they say.

This is all you need for the first few weeks along with a bit of walking and a little safe housework. I walked around big shops and supermarkets for my first time around as the weather was atrocious.

It takes about 12 weeks for the joint and muscles to completely heal up, it is a major operation. I don't have my first outpatient physio appointment till 24th of June and had a similar time frame for the previous op.

You can call the physiotherapist for reassurance if you need to. They are very helpful.

@anxioussarah - I agree that you should talk to a physiotherapist. It is so important to do what is right for you to make a full recovery. We are all different and recover at our own pace. It's nearly six months now for me but there have been many times when I have felt I wasn't walking far enough or well enough, and sometimes wondered how much good the exercises were doing. But then suddenly there seems to be progress. Another physio visit or chat could be good for you to assess how you can achieve your full potential, but try not to measure yourself against others, just go at what pace seems right for you.
