Hip and Back Pain

After 4 years of backwards and forwards to GP about painful right hip and getting nowhere, I ended up paying for MRI. Following this eventually got appointment with consultant who has suggested hip replacement. Then, I started with painful lower back pain and a left hip that is more painful than right hip. Dr has told me that back pain has nothing to do with hip problems, so did nothing for me. Should I be contacting hospital to explain that left hip is worse than right?

Does anyone else have lower back pain that interferes with walking and doing simple household chores?

Morning @Sheila51 and welcome to the online community.

Sorry to hear your concerns about pain in back and hips.

Yes you should definitely get back in touch with hospital doctor and explain your complaints. I would also suggest maybe starting a journal/diary of pain so you can discuss at a later date.

I do have occasional lower back pain after standing for to long and had an MRI test apparently I had a bulging disc but since my RA diagnosis no mention of that so assumed all connected ???

Lower back pain, in many cases, is one of the more frequent symptoms of severe OA. I had more pain in my back that in my groin. I thought I had a serious disc displacement but I don't have any spine problems. When the OA is getting worse, the pelvis is tilting to compensate when you walk and then it pulls forward your lower back. That's strange that a specialist doesn't know this. Take care
