Is a massage OK 8 weeks after a hip replacement?
Does anyone know if I can have a massage 8 weeks after my total hip replacement? Can I also lie on my front for massage?
Grateful for any advice!
Many thanks, Janet

Hello @Janet33 and welcome to the Community. We are a friendly and supportive group and I hope that will be your experience as well.
Time taken for recovery from joint replacement varies between individuals so please discuss with your doctor or physio before proceeding with a massage.

At 8 weeks my physio persuaded me to turn over onto my front for the first time. It didn't feel at all comfortable to me. A proper massage around the wound area could be better quite sore, I would ask your physio first. There are so many muscles and tissues still healing deep down. I'm not sure I would do it yet.
