Big toe arthritis
I have recently been diagnosed with arthritis in my big toes. I have had an x-ray. It seems to have worsened over the last few weeks and is painful to walk. The NHS podiatrist was not much help. I am struggling to find shoes, bought and returned loads this last few weeks. I am reluctant to have a cortisone injection. I don't know what to do.

Are you on medication? I was recommended shoes that are wider don't press on toes. Brookes. Hoka etc a size up. Look at exercises look on this website for those.

No I don't really want to go on strong painkillers. I have tried loads of shoes, bought, sent back, wider ones. They all hurt.

Hi, my podiatrist has recommended something which lifts up at the toes if possible - as it reduces movement on the toe. I have just got some Hoka Ora Recovery sliders for wearing around the house, which I am finding are more comfortable as they have arch support and go put at the toes a bit. Good luck!
