@cloughs all my joints ache so its hard not to identify with totally everyone. I did learn after a while though I must get the weight off my ankles or I would suffer. Finding a seat on the tram. Not standing too long in one spot. Not walking too far. Setting some DWP taxi support. One had to adapt.

Can I recommend the fusion? Your ankle will not get better, unfortunately.
It's a long recovery, so not a walk in the park, but it's amazing how quickly you are out of serious pain. I'm 6 months from a mid-foot fusion and now able to walk almost normally again [better with shoes] and certainly faster and more reliably. It should continue to improve over the next 6 months, but I'm already happy.
I've heard better recovery stories than mine as well.

hello. How lovely to find (at long last) others with O/A ankles. It seems pretty rare in comparison to hips and knees.
I had a left ankle fusion 10 yrs ago and a right total ankle replacement 18 months ago. I’m now able to walk 5 miles, even up slight hills. Am able to cycle, work, gardening etc, and pretty pain free. Please ask any questions you like !0
