New here
Hi there, I’ve just recently been diagnosed with Arthritis and worn discs in my lower back, on top of that menopause is in full swing so I’m finding it hard to know what’s menopause and what’s a flare up….been prescribed naproxen and codeine and waiting for musculoskeletal appointment, it’s all so draining 😔

Hi @SamanthaL01 It's quite a shock to get a diagnosis of Arthritis even if, as you probably have been, you have been in pain for some time. A double whammy for you having to cope with the menopause at the same time.
I am glad to see you have an MSK appointment in the pipeline, but in the meantime these links might be worth a read?

Please do join in anywhere you feel comfortable.
My best wishes

That is a nightmare @SamanthaL01! The menopause alone is enough to floor you isn't it?
Hot flushes not sleeping etc etc
Sounds as though you are getting help, but are you on a PPI proton pump inhibitor too if you are on naproxen regularly? It can upset the stomach I think.
It is draining, but we are all here and we do understand 😕
Sending some ((()))

Hi Samantha
Welcome. You’re certainly dealing with a lot. It’s worth, if you can, asking your mum and/or grandmother what their menopause experience was like. It might help you understand how your body is responding along side the OA.
Agree with Toni, PPI with Naproxen is essential. Also make sure you have your potassium levels checked regularly as anti-inflammatories can affect this in some people.
Exercising is really important as part of your pain management. Pace yourself and listen to your body as some days you’ll be able to do more than on others. Be kind to yourself.Karen
