Alert card.
Hi folks.
Just wondering. Does anyone carry a medical alert card stating what Arthritis medication they are taking? Read that I should carry one as taking Leflunomide.

I only have one for my blood thinners Woofy so I don't bleed out in the event of an accident.
Might be an idea and of course you need one if on long term steroids etc.

Hi @Woofy
Like @frogmorton I carry a card for blood thinners. It's made of cardboard so deteriorates in my wallet over time. I carry a plastic card for the adalimumab biosimilar I'm on. I also carried a cardboard card for methotrexate but I seem to have lost it. I had a card for the steroid prednisolone when I was on it for an extended period. I keep a list of all the drugs and quantities I take on a notes page on my phone. I've been really surprised at the number of medics I've seen that haven't read my notes - including ones that have suggested medication that I cannot take due to the drugs I'm already on.
The VA website states that those on leflunomide should carry an alert card. If you can't get one from your GP or pharmacist you can actually get a generic plastic one online that you fill in with the relevant details with an indelible pen. There are some online sites where they will produce a filled in card for you but personally I wouldn't give that sort of information out.

Hi all,
I had a medic alert bracelet as a child which was invaluable. I would have one again in a heartbeat.
A bracelet/necklace with a brief history, name, ID number and main problem together with a 24 hour phone number.
Ambulance/police etc phone the number and they are given your latest health information, emergency contact etc.
Yes it does cost but I would recommend to anyone in a heartbeat as the organisation is internationally recognised.
Love n hugs
