@faith12 thank you for sharing how you feel. Sometimes our pain and how we feel, and our friends, all go in the same direction for a while and you will indeed feel defeated until we recognise its all going wrong and we need to find a way to put a stop to it.

Definitely see the GP as they are totally incredible.

Definitely see your friends on here too as some of them are incredible too.

Definitely handle how you feel, the way you have always handled how you feel. Your feelings have not got arthritis and they will respond the same way as they always did in the past.

    Hi @Faith12

I am so sorry to read your post. Arthritis stinks. I was unfortunate enough to speak to the head GP at my surgery last year after a week in chronic pain and no sleep. She told me Mrs B you have arthritis and you should get used to being in pain, there's nothing I can do. If it hadn't been a phone appointment I don't know what I would've done.

I later found another GP at the same practice who is lovely, understanding and helps me. I don't speak to anyone else now.

Please make an appointment to see another GP and if you can take someone along with you who understands how it affects your daily life, all the better. Explain exactly how the pain is affecting your daily life - keep a pain diary or use an app to monitor it so you can take it along. If you haven't been referred to a MSK Physio, ask for a referral. If a second GP at the practice doesn't support you submit a complaint to the surgery which they must respond to and if they don't you can involve the local health authority.

I really hope you can find some comfort and relief soon.

    Love n hugs

    Trish xx

Hello @Mongo1 and welcome to the Online Community. We are a friendly and supportive group and I hope that will also be your experience.

I am very sorry to hear that you are having a rough time, please feel free to use this platform as an outlet. It is very valid to feel down when you are in pain. I have found some materials from the VA website associated with mental health and advice on how to cope with these harder times.

As well as this please feel free to look through previous and current discussions from members about anything you want to have some advice on. eg- pain relief or mental health.

I hope this helps you in some way and please remember that the Versus Arthritis team is always here to help.

    Olivia 😁
