Hip replacement

I has knee replacement in 2009 which has become painful over the last couple of years. Anyway after 2 bone scans on my knee 2 injections in my groin and several injections in my knee none of which have lasted the last one lasted just under 2 weeks. Got told earlier this year by a registrar my knee was coming loose I have now been told by the consultant that my knee is fine and my hip needs replacing. Have started the process been weighed measured blood been taken. I have to see anaethist next waiting for an appointment. Meanwhile knee pain is getting worse.

    Hi @HHBBNN

    Your description does make me think yes hip! Ask our Hippies @Janlyn @Nurina @alwayssewing to name but a few…

    It seems that often it's the knee which suffers when our hips are in trouble. Groin pain too? Did you say groin pain?

    I do hope it's not too long for you waiting for your hip to be done and the pressure is taken off that poor knee.

    In the meantime you should read some of the threads by those i named above all of them have recently had their hips done so you can read their whole recovery journeys.

    Take care

    Hi @HHBBNN Hip pain could make your knee in pain due to the posture compensation when you walk. After the surgery, because of the new posture, knee pain can be still there, temporarily. I think that after getting your hip replaced you'll find out where this knee pain is coming from. Good luck x

    @HHBBNN

    sorry to hear about your knee pain and I understand how you are feeling. I was first diagnosed with Osteoarthritis in my right knee back in 2021. Fast forward to early 2023 and my knee pain/mobility got considerably worse. After an appointment with MSK I had a pelvic x-ray and was informed I had Osteoarthritis in both hips. I eventually got a hospital referral for my knee, only to be told by the Registrar that my right hip needed a replacement a.s.a.p. and all the pain in my knee was deferred from my hip. I have since had my hip replacement done and can honestly say there is now no pain in my knee. Pre hip replacement I was also getting frequent groin pain. I hope that you soon get your hip replacement date. Keep us all updated and take care.🙂
