RA and now OA.
Hi all.
I had RA from 24 years old. It’s been in remission for 8 years, I’m 52. But now an x-ray shows moderate-severe OA with bone spurs in both knees. I’m back to hobbling around like an old lady. I feel like I’m going to need to dig out my old walking stick soon as I’m struggling to walk after not moving for any length of time.
I'm a pro at RA but I’m new to OA. GP has referred me to a physio but I can get some sessions free through my work. GP prescribed co-dydramol but not really on top of the pain. also prescribed Naproxen but I find them hard to tolerate. What else can I do?? 🙂

Hi @HGet - Welcome to our community! We are a friendly and supportive group and I hope that will be your experience as well.
I'm sorry to hear you are in a lot of pain. Here is a link to some useful information on OA.
Hopefully some of our members can give you some advice on their experiences of OA and perhaps share some tips on things that have helped them.
All the best, Claudia x

If you are in debilitating pain ask for your local NHS physio if they can inject your knees with steroids. It is also available privately at clinics.
This, if it works well for you, will probably take away the background near constant pain. Not sure how effective on the ad-hoc sporadic intense sharp pain.
Good luck
