Femoral-acetabular impingement? (FAI)
Hello again😊
I posted earlier this week about being told I had OA and bad referred knee pain. I finally had my orthopaedic appointment today, the consultant didn’t think my OA was bad enough to cause the pain I’m having. He examined me and was hovering between muscular and hip because I couldn’t relax my thigh muscle (after months of no physio or help, I guess it would be reluctant!!)
He did find a spur on the MRI though, and a narrowed gap which he possibly thinks might be causing femoral-acetabular impingement.
as my symptoms are so random and inconsistent he booked me in for drainage and steroid injection into my hip (4-6 more weeks of hell waiting!)
And if that helps then they will CT me with the possibility of an arthroscopic procedure. If it doesn’t help, it’s on to another department 🥴
Im so fed up, this is probably my 5th or 6th different diagnosis and still it’s not even a proper one. So looking like it’s not a THR like the private consultant said.
Has anyone experienced this FAI? Thanks so much xx

Hello @Sassykat I hope you get a proper diagnosis soon.
There are a number of discussions on the Conmunity about this so take a look and hopefully there will be something useful. The search results are:
Best wishes
